Men's great love to hate weddings

In all my 20 fine years I have never understood why someone (read men) would hate weddings! Ever realized how they wish they would just appear on the actual date in their jeans n kicks, say I do get the band and run with their bride-who is not in an over priced dress (read gown)? That is like the most amazing day of anyone's life, the day you do not need to be a celebrity to have all eyes on you, the day since you turned 3 when every body adores you. Surely, why would someone hate all this awesomeness?
I actually thought about blogging about men’s attitude towards weddings yesterday when we were just chilling with my very own prince charming, watching Heist, great series btw. Once the clock hit 5, I did not care how he was into Heist we had to switch to ‘Weddings’. You guessed right, he got bored and sweet me innocently yet ignorantly asked, “Baby, why do men hate weddings?” Wrong question to ask or maybe it’s the timing that was wrong. Woow!!! It was like I had detonated a land mine. What he said which was affirmed by other 14 men by the way resulted to the list, “10 Reasons why you should hate weddings” How now? This should be my least favorite list, how can they possibly manage to hate weddings and worse come up with a list?
The list (in order of how often they were mentioned):
1.      Waste of money: Out of the 15 men I talked to all 15 mentioned this reason first. They do not get why a girl would want to wear a dress worth 100 000ksh just one day and store it. No comment, but I am still dreaming of my Disney princess ball gown.
2.      Waste of time: They wonder why we can’t just jump into the honeymoon and get on with life. Sorry sirs! Its worth every second spent for the best day of our lives. Also mentioned by 100% of the men I talked to.
3.      It’s a show off: Why tell the world you are getting married? Guys but this is the best day of my life, I definitely want the world to know I lived to see it
4.      So much of your private life out there in the open: I reserve my comment.
5.      Plainly boring! This coming from a man from the Asian community, I kinder feel him, you know how their weddings take a whole week that drives him nuts. How I wish I would have my wedding for a whole week
6.      It’s a ladies thing, period. Purely feminine and men like acting tough (macho, I heard)  Not valid too because the women are getting married to men!!
7.      Deception/hypocrisy; Weddings have lost the magic- the purity and divinity intended. Still no comment, yet!
8.      The dowry negotiations process is too tiring, so many rules to follow, so many fines, they claimed come we stay works just as fine. I disagree.
9.      They hate to see women cry; and apparently there so many women crying during weddings, the bride herself out of excitement, the mother, the sisters, the friends. I do not think this is a valid reason
10.  For 10,I was threatened to repeat point 1 and 2 gift; to just emphasize that it’s a waste of both money and time, lest I don’t get a Christmas

Some other reasons I got I would rather not mention since I am preacher of good morals and true love. Wish I could write why girls love weddings but ...that is a book on its own.

Long live weddings:)

Prince William's proposal to Kate Middleton

The oval sapphire ring with surrounding diamonds given to Kate by Prince William
This comes as bad news to some girls who kept hoping prince William would come their way. All in all it exciting that we shall have a royal wedding some time soon.
Prince Willian of Britain is now engaged to his girlfriend of 8 years Kate Middleton. It is rumoured that the prince proposed to his girlfriend on the last day of their holiday here in Kenya, north eastern area sometime in October. He did it  at a camp here in Kenya, how romantic of Prince William. It was a private, intimate, proposal at the Cabin verandah of the wooden lodge in north eastern where they were staying while on their holiday here in Kenya.  Kate described the place as romantic.
The prince presented Kate with his late mother's Princess Diana's engagement ring,  an oval blue sapphire with surrounding diamonds.Awesome ring.
Beautiful ring on Kate's hand

The royal couple looking good together. inset the ring.

Both happy and jealous for Kate.
Congratulations to the happy couple. Eagerly waiting for the wedding.

The basics of wedding Proposals

The wedding proposal day is the second most memorable moment in a persons love life after the actual wedding date. The girl especially dreams of this day from a very tender age, from the moment they introduce prince charming stories into a girls life. So any man who disappoints a girl on her proposal day should be punished for crushing her sweet dream. Therefore guys must put lots of thought to it. You will be surprised to discover how much the girl thinks of  this day in her head-resulting to high expectations from her man.

So the guy has no choice but to be creative and put lots of thought to this day like the girl does.If you think of it, there might be no 'the happiest day of my life'-the wedding day- for both the guy and lady if you don't impress the lady when proposing.

So as the guys jump into their creativity suit to make her second best day of her life memorable, the day she tells her girls of over and over again and never gets tired, there are some one-two-three 'don't you dare try' and some that you must consider if you are a fan of buying apology bouquets and chocolates for getting it all wrong. Plus she is the lady you want to spend the rest of your life with, she is worth it all, so impress her, in actual sense you shall be be doing your self some great justice. Trust me-story for another day all together.

Thus today we talk about some of the things you should do:
  1. Make it personal and intimate
  2. Always have some sweet words for her, don't just ask 'will you marry me' and leave it at that. Let her know why you want to marry her.
  3. Get creative, get creative, get creative and I want to add again get creative. Don't use the same idea one of your boys used or some tired ideas from TV. Will not work for you.
  4. Get the right ring. Remember she shall be flashing it around from that day after all and that's the first question people ask when you announce the engagement, ;let me see the ring' Know your lady's colour preference for jewelery, size and design. If you doubt yourself, go window shopping prior and listen to every word she say, will really make your job easy.
  5. Please do practice your words in front of a mirror. They weren't only made for girls. Go over your lines as you watch yourself. Am sure you are thinking, 'you are kidding me, can't be caught doing that!' Worth every effort, trust me. I bet you have heard the line 'Love is when we get silly together'
  6. Make sure the timing is right; Don't do it too soon in the relationship neither should you wait too long unless you have had the talk and your both in agreement of your intended time for marriage.
  7. I once was told doing it at a family event makes you nervous, Don't add extra pressure on yourself. avoid proposing at a family gathering, especially the ladies side. But there are different schools of thought on this.
  8. Keep it simple; recent research has shown that a more quiet intimate proposal is more likely to sweep her off her feet to one where you stage an audience in an extravagant restaurant.
Next  is the 'Don't you dare try!'

    Will you Marry me...

    Quite a question they say!

I was recently watching a TV show where a guy stopped a base ball match to propose to his girlfriend of 3 months only (note 3 months) and as you anticipated she said 'NO!'  I did not watch much after, think I dozed off and it was a comedy supposed to make me laugh, but I was sorry for him, thanks heavens it is just a TV show because that is something to bruise a mans ego for eternity. Poor guy, seeing all other men 'sink' in their seats embarrassed for him! But he kinder walked right into that, he turned all the 'DON'Ts' to 'DOs'. And I mean all and a bonus one where he got the microphone!

There are also very memorable, touchy proposals, the best I have read is this guy who made the girl go round all their favorite hang out joints, at each joint getting a lead to the next joint till the one where he was waiting for her. For a moment I thought to myself, "this is exhausting" but the end definitely justified the means. I also like Mr & Mrs Mathenge's (alias nameless & Wahu) proposal story. Sweet, private, surprise, simply aaaw. Not sure I should mention it maybe when I shall be writing about how the married Kenyans in the Limelight (read celebrities) proposed or were proposed to.

This plus my love for sweet love stories I decided to ask around about proposals. Interesting stories I got that I shall be sharing in this, lets call it 'The Proposal series!' Disclaimer, I am not biased but I chose to start with what I got from the beauties, just obeying nature, ladies first plus they definitely had stories that just make you wanna cry.
